This fall there will be a new face at Community Elementary School.

Talley Clyde has been appointed the new district curriculum coordinator and Stephen Kapulka will take on the role of assistant principal. Both will begin their new roles on July 1.

Clyde has worked with the North Schools for almost 16 years, most recently as an eighth-grade English teacher at the North Attleborough Middle School, according to an announcement from the district. She has a background in designing and implementing curricula that blends learning activities with units of study.

Clyde also previously served as the co-chairperson of the Professional Learning Steering Committee, which is responsible for innovating the format of professional development days. In this position, she honed her skills in advanced planning, collaboration and furthering collective visions. Clyde is currently pursuing a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in educational leadership from Bridgewater State College.

“Talley is a long-standing member of our school community with a strong understanding of curriculum development,” said Assistant Superintendent Michelle McKeon in the announcement. “I’m confident that with her experience she will thrive in this role as she assists with crafting our district’s curriculum to further ensure consistency and continuity across all disciplines and schools.”

Kapulka has been an assistant principal since 2012, with his last position as assistant principal at Quashnet School in Mashpee. Prior to this role, he was assistant principal at the Barnstable Intermediate School and the Hanover Middle School. Kapulka also worked as an elementary-level educator in the Falmouth Public Schools for 14 years.

According to the announcement, Kapulka fostered learning environments that prioritized social and emotional needs of students, creating an inclusive learning environment beneficial to all students. He also is well-versed in curriculum implementation.

“I ask that all of our staff, students and families join me in warmly welcoming Stephen to the Community School,” said Community School Principal Jeff Sposato. “Stephen is extremely well-versed in the responsibilities and expectations required of an assistant principal and I believe that with the skills he possesses he will be a great fit for our school community.”
