Health Department to offer free vocational counseling

Director and Public Health Nurse Anne Marie Fleming has announced that the Health Department will begin offering vocational counseling to residents.

Human Service Coordinator Stephen Berdos will begin conducting remote vocational counseling sessions on Saturday, March 1. The counseling sessions will assist residents in developing skills for finding and retaining employment, including interview preparation, resume writing, cover letter creation, and compiling a list of professional references. Referrals to a state agency for vocational rehabilitation may also be provided if the resident qualifies.

Residents interested in receiving vocational counseling must schedule appointments in advance. Three appointments will be available every Saturday on a first-come, first-served basis, beginning at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11 a.m. Each session will last approximately one hour. Times are subject to change. Residents can register for an appointment online.

For more information, contact Human Service Coordinator Stephen Berdos at 508-699-0100 x 2515 or sberdos@nattleboro.com.

Senior Center launches Snow Angels program

The North Attleborough Senior Center is launching Snow Angels, its new voluntary snow removal service for seniors and people with physical disabilities living independently. The program’s goal is to help bring together residents who want to keep their sidewalks clear, but are physically unable to do so, with volunteers who want to help their community.

The Senior Center is currently seeking those who would like to volunteer to shovel for the program and those who are in need of assistance.

To become a Snow Angel, you must be at least 18 years of age and older or between the ages of 13-17 with a safe mode of transportation. Snow Angels will need to provide their own shovels. Those who need a shovel can let the center know when they register.

To register for the program, contact Janis Johns at 508-699-0131. Those who register will be paired with a nearby neighbor. Please note that volunteers will be contacted via email with confirmation details when you have been assigned a neighbor.

If you are a senior resident of North Attleborough living independently in your own home and need help with shoveling stairs and creating a path to the street, please consider registering for the Snow Angels program by contacting Johns at (508) 699-0131.
