The High School Building Committee continues to make progress on plans for the new North Attleborough High School, with key developments in design and construction management moving forward.
During the committee’s Jan. 23 meeting, concept sketches of the new building were unveiled, showcasing a design that balances modern functionality with nods to the town’s history.
The exterior concepts feature windows in every classroom and a mix of brick types, drawing inspiration from North Attleborough’s former jewelry factories and historic police station. Inside, visual mockups highlight open, flexible learning spaces with exposed wood beams, natural tones, and glass elements designed to create an open and inviting atmosphere. A central hallway, or “spine,” is planned to improve navigation throughout the building.
As the project moves forward, the design team is exploring ways to incorporate the town’s signature red into the school’s aesthetic.
The committee also discussed the ongoing search for a construction manager. Interviews with candidates are scheduled for the week of Jan. 28, allowing candidates to present their approach to project completion. A final decision is expected by Feb. 10.
In the coming months, the committee will focus on schematic design development, finalizing traffic impact assessments and securing necessary permits. Plans are also in place for a community forum on Feb. 13, where residents will have an opportunity to learn more about the project and provide input.
