This Thanksgiving, a familiar football face-off will enter its 100th year.
Since 1921, The North Attleborough Red Rocketeers and Attleboro Blue Bombardiers have hit the field for the annual Thanksgiving Day game. Last year marked the 100th year of this rivalry, but the game couldn’t be held due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Historically, Attleboro has bested North every 10 years.
The Red Rocketeers and Blue Bombardiers faced off in April for the ‘Century Game,’ one of two games to mark the rivalry’s 100th anniversary, with the first being a commemoration of the competition.
In addition to the Century Game, a second game will be played on Thanksgiving at 10 a.m. on the Tozier-Cassidy Field at Attleboro High School. This will technically be around the 106th time the two teams have played, as they were in the same league for a brief period.
