Fire Chief and Emergency Management Director Christopher Coleman invites the community to share ideas for the town’s Hazard Mitigation Plan during an upcoming joint hybrid meeting of the Local Emergency Planning Committee and the Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee, which will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 10 a.m. at the JoAnn Cathcart Conference Room, 43 South Washington St., or virtually.
The town recently formed a Hazard Mitigation Planning Committee to update its existing Hazard Mitigation Plan. The town is collaborating with a consultant approved by the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency to identify risks of naturalBhazards and develop projects that will mitigate those risks.
Community members are encouraged to attend this joint meeting and share their thoughts and ideas on reducing the risks of natural hazards and climate change.
Once completed, the plan must be approved by the Federal Emergency Management Agency so the town may continue to receive pre- and post-disaster mitigation funds.
