An officer-involved shooting stemming from an attempted arrest at the Red Roof Inn in Mansfield is under investigation.
According to a statement from North Attleborough Police Chief Richard McQuade, at approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, two NAPD officers went to the Red Roof, located at 60 Forbes Blvd.
There, the officers attempted to serve outstanding arrest warrants to Kevin Burke of North Attleborough. Burke had been under investigation for alleged drug activity, according to a statement from the Mansfield Police.
When the NAPD officers attempted to make the arrest, Burke fled in his vehicle, dragging one officer behind, endangering their life, the statement read. The second officer discharged their weapon at Burke as he fled. Burke sustained a “superficial gunshot wound to his arm,” and was later arrested in North Attleborough, treated at an area hospital and released to police custody.
Three North Attleborough officers were also injured during this incident, according to McQuade’s statement and have been treated at and released from the hospital.
This matter is an ongoing investigation.
