A space for people to enjoy and learn about the great outdoors now has a brand-new sign.

In April, a crew from National Sign Corp., which has an office in North Attleborough, installed a new sign for the trail, which runs near the Martin School on Landry Avenue. Russell Hassmann, the president and CEO of the company, said the project took approximately eight weeks, beginning with the design and ending with the installation on April 6.

“The school inquired about our interest in helping them get the sign replaced,” he wrote. “As part of our Community Service – Give Back initiative, we enthusiastically volunteered to design, fabricate and install the new sign at no cost to the school.”

The old sign was in rough shape, with sections peeling away. The new sign sports a green background with a cardinal sitting on a tree, along with the history of the trail. Established in 1998, the .26-mile trail has been maintained over the years by different Scouting Troops in the community, including the local Cub, Girl and Boy Scouts, Eagle Scout Patrick Beagan of Troop 25, and The Martin School Association.
